A lot of times I "recycle" something, that is I give it to someplace that says they recycle it but you're never really sure what that means in the case of things like batteries or the mechanics of it. I'm always suspicious that it's just a disguise for throwing it away somewhere out of sight. At present, in Thetford where I live, we save it all up for one day in the year when we can bring in hazardous waste like batteries for recycling.
